Faythe Thurman joined the Welch Library team in a new role as an informationist supporting Bayview Medical Center. Faythe comes to us from West Virginia University, an R-1 institution, where she served as the Health Sciences Scholarly Engagement Librarian since 2021 working with the School of Nursing and various departments in the School of Medicine. Prior to that position, Faythe served in progressively responsible roles at Lincoln Memorial University in the Carnegie-Vincent Library while working with the newly established College of Veterinary Medicine and the Veterinary Health Science & Technology (VHST) department.
Faythe has broad experience working with faculty, students, residents, and clinicians across the health sciences providing a variety of information and data services, as well as developing and assessing programs within the library. She has conducted research on hiring and onboarding practices in academic libraries during the COVID-19 pandemic with an article submitted for publication. Faythe started on Monday, August 19th and initially work remotely for a few weeks. When she does start onsite, she will be primarily based at Bayview and will be at Welch on Tuesdays.
