Written by prominent scholars from industry, academia, and research institutions, the Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology presents a wide scope of articles on chemical substances—including their properties, manufacturing, and uses. It also focuses on industrial processes and unit operations in chemical engineering, as well as covering fundamentals and scientific subjects related to the field. Founded in 1989 by Russian businessman and journalist Vladimir Yakovlev on the eve of the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Kommersant (Коммерсантъ, The Businessman) is one of the most influential and important newspapers to have emerged in post-Soviet Russia. The economic liberalization of the Gorbachev-era perestroika and glasnost reforms had created a need for media outlets dedicated to reporting on the new economic situation in the country and the emergence of the new entrepreneurial class. The establishment of Kommersant, modeled largely after The Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times, was meant to meet just such a need.

Late Qing and Republic Era Literature Platform contains a variety of publications from the late Qing and Republic Era, including monographs, newspapers and magazines, and archival sources. The sources are representative of all major aspects of Chinese society at the time, covering history, politics, economy, culture, education, society, military and more. Currently the database includes modules on “Red Classics (publications by the Chinese Communist Party)”, “Historical Persons of Modern China”, “Major Historical Events”, “Diaries and Letters”, “Foreign Relations”, “Archives of Tai-ping Rebellion”, and “The Eight Major Magazines of Republic Era”.
