The mission of Welch Medical Library is to advance biomedical discovery, education, and health care by providing leadership in the research, management and sharing of knowledge.
Welch Medical Library serves the information needs of the faculty, staff and students of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
The primary funding for the library is supported in a series of operational budgets developed annually by the staff and the library director. The amount of funding is divided using an allocation formula assigning distributable shares to each funding entity. Currently, the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Medicine, School of Public Health, and School of Nursing, as well as, the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview, Howard County General Hospital, Sibley Hospital, Suburban Hospital, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and the Kennedy Krieger Institute support the funding for the library. The library support also includes grant funding and other project-based accounts.
